What is ABDM?

Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission, explained

ABDM is the Government of India's initiative to create a unified digital health ecosystem. It gives every citizen a unique health ID (ABHA), every facility a national registry identity, and every provider the ability to exchange health records securely — with patient consent at the centre.

ABHA ID

A unique 14-digit health identity for every Indian citizen, linked to their health records with consent.

HFR — Facility Registry

A national registry that gives every hospital, clinic and lab a verified digital identity (M1).

HPR — Professional Registry

A verified registry of doctors, nurses and health professionals (M2).

Health Locker

A consent-based digital locker where patients store and share their health records.

Our ABDM journey

Certified across all three milestones

HIMS completed the ABDM compliance journey in stages — and every stage is live in production for our hospitals today.

Health Professional Registry

Doctors and staff are linked to their national professional IDs — a requirement for panel billing and government schemes.

  • Doctor & staff HPR linking
  • Credential verification workflow
  • Bulk onboarding for teams
M3 Certified 2023

Health Information Exchange

Full consent-based exchange of patient records with any ABDM-linked provider across India.

  • ABHA-linked records
  • Consent manager built in
  • Discharge summary exchange
Benefits of ABDM for hospitals

Why ABDM compliance pays for itself

Government empanelment

ABDM compliance is increasingly mandatory for Ayushman Bharat, CGHS and state insurance panels.

Insurance & TPA readiness

Insurers prefer ABDM-linked providers for cashless claims and faster approvals.

Patient trust & retention

Patients with ABHA IDs choose hospitals where their records follow them digitally.

Interoperability

Referrals in and out become seamless — discharge summaries, prescriptions and reports travel with consent.

Future-proofing

National programs and health schemes will build on ABDM rails. Being early means zero retrofit costs.

Operational efficiency

Registry syncing and consent capture happen inside normal workflows — no duplicate data entry.

Compliance checklist

Where HIMS keeps you compliant

Regulation in Indian healthcare is getting tighter — and more digital. HIMS turns compliance from a quarterly panic into a continuous, invisible process.
